"Wow, if you're looking for a chef who acts like they're Michelin-rated but isn't, this is the place. His cooking reminds me of my mom's, especially when she made 'Rice-A-Roni'--'Chicken Flavor.' Everyone here is treated like a 'San Francisco Treat.' I ordered the Salumi with Molinari Calabrian Salami and Mozzarella, which came with red onion and pickled peppers. I thought, 'This sounds amazing--I love pickled peppers,' so I ordered some extra on the side. However, the chef had the hostess--'Ding Dong'--count and show me how many peppers were on my pizza before serving me the extra peppers, trying to make it clear that my request was absurd. Only then did she bring my side of pickled peppers, making a point to mention the count again. I don't blame her; she was just following orders. But even the Michelin-rated chefs I've worked with--from French Laundry, to Amano's last great chef, Adriano--never did anything like that and respected patrons requests, that are not unreasonable."

the burrata starter offered a fun harmony of different textures: the pickled, olive oil and peppercorn mushrooms perfectly complemented the tender, chilled burrata, while the crisp buttery crostini served as the perfect vehicle. the rigatoni bolognese was a warm bowl of comfort, filled with al dente nuggets of rigatoni mixed into a delicious tangy, meaty sauce and finally topped with a fluffy mountain of pecorino romano. supa delicious!

Loved it here! I walked by here once and saw that someone was having a wedding reception here -- I thought that if it was that good to host such a big event there, I absolutely had to try it. Came here on a Friday at opening with a friend for lunch and there was barely anyone there, but it did fill up quickly. We sat outside because it was such a pretty day, and the waitstaff were super kind and helpful to get us a wedge for our table since it was wobbly. It was never too loud, even out on the sidewalk. We got the Gem Lettuce salad and the Fusilli with Pesto. Plenty to share for two people! Gem Lettuce salad: 5/5, love the big pieces and the addition of radish to this salad -- it added a nice extra crunch! A well-balanced salad flavor-wise as well. Fusilli with Pesto: 5/5, loved this so much! I usually prefer my pasta a little firmer, but this was cooked so beautifully that I couldn't complain. The pesto tasted so fresh and creamy as well. Loved the toasted pinenuts on top! I had such a good time here and glad I got to try it before the lunch crowd came in. The staff were so attentive and personable. Would definitely come again!

Great experience here for a Sunday lunch with two of my friends. The restaurant offers both indoors and outdoor seating and is located on the bustling Hayes Street. The decor indoors was very modern and spacious. Our waitress was great and took the time to introduce the popular items on the menu and recommendations based on what we ordered. We started with the burrata and there was a very large amount for it. The mushroom was an interesting touch but surprisingly it went well today. The fungi pizza was also delicious especially with the egg on top of it. Lastly, we shared the basil tagliatelle and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The prices were definitely a tad on the higher side but for the portion size and quality it was still reasonable. I would definitely revisit if I'm in the area!

Cauliflower $10 - good. I believe it's baked. Great flavor and texture, but small portion Funghi Pizza $22 - good. Just the right amount of quality toppings. Perfectly made crust, thin and crispy. Good size Agnolotti Del Plin $22 - good. It's supposedly a ravioli but looks like a dumpling/wonton. Freshly made pasta, tasty filling. Good portion Rigatoni Bolognese $22 - good. Not very saucy, but not dry either. Pasta was fresh. Good portion They have a very extensive wine menu, mostly Italian though. Walked in on a Sunday at 6 pm and it wasn't busy. They don't do reservations and close their yelp waitlist if it's not busy. Good sized restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating (heated). Service was fine. Overall, great restaurant with high quality food, reasonable prices, and generous portions for Italian restaurant standards. Zero complaints

WOW! a Mano was recommended by a few people and I am so glad to have tried their food. Went in for an early dinner on Sunday and the ambiance was relaxed yet lively. The decor and open layout is inviting. We had the cauliflower antipasti and it was so lemony and delicious. The chef was able to make this vegetarian by removing the bagna cauda. The cauliflower was well cooked and melted right in your mouth. We also ordered the bucatini and it was phenomenal. Perfectly al dente with a little bite of spice in the sauce. Would highly recommend and

A Mano in San Francisco's Hayes Valley offers a great dining experience. The interior is modern, spacious, and well-lit, making it a comfortable and inviting spot. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and gave us great recommendations. We got our food quickly without any long waits. The pizzas are extremely tasty and perfect for sharing. The salumi and margherita pizzas were especially good, with rich flavors and a perfectly cooked crust. Three pizzas were enough to feed six of us along with our appetizers, so I highly recommend a family style here. The wine selection is solid as well, with the red wines pairing nicely with the pizzas. Overall, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and drinks Overall, A Mano is a must-visit if you're in Hayes Valley, and I'll definitely be back. As a bonus, they played the copa america final which was awesome to watch as we ate!

I've eaten at a Mano a couple of times and I've liked everything I've eaten so far. I had lunch here a week ago and ordered the bucatini with guanciale. It was delicious! The pasta was cooked al dente and the guanciale added a nice fattiness that contrasted with the bright marinara sauce. It did come with chilis, though I wish it was a little spicier. But I finished the plate so clearly I enjoyed it. I also wish I added an egg because I think the richness of the yolk would've been splendid with the guanciale. What I really like about this space is its outdoor seating. Hayes Valley has a sunnier microclimate and it's nice to eat al fresco there. And there's a lot of outdoor seating, though it can be high in demand when it is sunny. I remember eating a pizza outside awhile back during my lunch hour and watched the people walk by. It was relaxing and a good way to decompress after a tough day at work. And service is top notch. Everyone is friendly and the food comes out in a timely fashion. I also like that the menu changes and that it's small. It shows that the chefs focus on making perfect dishes with seasonal ingredients. Definitely check out a Mano if you want to enjoy delicious Italian food.

We walked in at around 5:45 pm and were seated right away. They do not take reservations, so I'd recommend coming at non-peak times to avoid long wait times. The place is very spacious with an open kitchen. Our waiter was very nice, and food was served in a timely manner (15 ish minutes). I ordered the bucatini amatriciana ($19) in a delicious tomato sauce with slices of italian cured pork that resembled bacon. Pasta was cooked perfectly to my liking, and the sauce was tangy and light. My boyfriend ordered the braised short rib ($31), and he absolutely loved it. It was fall off the bone tender yet still had a nice bite. The mash potatoes were super smooth, paired with an herby oil, and and so yummy with the braising liquid. My friends got the burrata funghi crostini ($16) and short rib agnolotti ($22). The burrata was great, and the agnolotti received a "omg wow." Overall, we really enjoyed the food here. Pastas were simple and flavorful, and braised short rib was the star. I'd love to come back to try the other pastas, pizzas, and duck liver mousse!
